Teaching one narrow skill via a single well-made web page

How it works

Step by step

1. 1List every skill you've been paid for at least three times. Cross out anything you'd need to re-research — you want deep, boring expertise.
2. 2Pick the single narrowest one that other people repeatedly ask you about. 'How to price a freelance retainer' beats 'freelancing'.
3. 3Outline the page as answers to the 8-12 questions you've actually been asked. Write in plain language, no jargon, no throat-clearing.
4. 4Draft the page in one sitting, then edit ruthlessly over three sessions across a week. Cut every sentence that isn't load-bearing.
5. 5Include one concrete example or template that a reader can copy immediately. That is the reason people bookmark and share.
6. 6Design the page as one long scroll: readable typography, generous line-height, no popups, no email gate. Load time under 1 second.
7. 7Add a small pay-what-you-want tip jar at the bottom via Stripe or Buy Me a Coffee. Suggest $7, $19 and $49. No paywall.
8. 8Publish under a memorable subdomain or slug. Add proper OG tags so it looks good in social previews.
9. 9Post it once, honestly, in one relevant community (Hacker News, a subreddit, a niche newsletter). Never post the same link twice.
10. 10Set a calendar reminder to refresh the page every 6 months — fix broken links, update prices, add one new question you've been asked since.
